Why oh why oh why do emachine sell pc's that they provide absolutely no support for.
I am trying to find drivers for a 8220 and i can't find anything at all.
Anyone got any ideas? (I can't throw it out the window as i want to because i am getting paid to sort it).

I just tried a quick google and there's nothing there at all. Just endless posts in forums from people with problems with that model.
Is it an old PC? They might not have sold many so decided to discontinue support or something.

All i can say is, what a pile of ****!!
[Edit] In order for me to contact them they want me to sign up with them. That aint happening!!

I take it Everest didn`t help at all then?
If as seems to be the case, the ethernet driver is the main problem, then maybe, it`d just be easier to get a new nic.

just as a matter of interest: a few months ago i worked on a pc, and oddly enough i couldn't find drivers for the mobo. it was actually an acer. nevertheless there were no drivers available for it from acer, and was told by them that the machine should be upgraded as they did not support this mobo, in fact thy said they'd never heard of it, can you believe that?
anyway i ran a couple of programmes such as everest and one of them came up with a completely diferent name for the mobo, guess what that was it. i returned to the site for acer and dounloaded the drivers.... owz about that then??? cant remember the namee of the programme at the moment that scored for me, but i do remember that it was an online one
and excuse my inorance but will you give me more info on the 8220

I have opened it up and had a good look at the mobo and can't find a make or model number on it.
Everest says "unknown" about the mobo.
There's absolutely nothing about it on the emachine website.
I'm all out of ideas.
All i know about it is that it is an 8220, P4 2.8ghz, it has radeon 9200 gfx, and a 160gig hdd.

Just tried that program. It says that the mobo is indeed a TriGem but it is unable to come up with anymore information than that.
I get an error404 on that link you just posted.

That's the mobo without a doubt. How on earth did you find that?!?!?
Now i know that Alaska3 is actually the name of the mobo i believe it's model number may be 143276 possibly.
[Update]
The pc now has a working chipset driver and a working sound driver.
I have still not had any luck with onboard lan and it also seems to want a usb driver too.
So far tomrca, your information has been invaluable in sorting this out and you have my thanks.

Well, i have gotten everything but the onboard lan working. I doubt the machine owner will ever need it anyhow so...
Thankyou everyone that has helped on this little problem.
It shows what a great community we have here.

tomrca, I posted a thread in the Drivers forum with a link to that site and stickied it.
You can see it here: eMachine Drivers
I'll leave it open for a bit if there's anything you want to add, but I will close it in a day or so. If you want anything added after it's closed, send me a PM and I'll gladly edit it
