There used to be a thing in the Lotus Suite of programs that did this sort of thing for you - and you could record a voice commentary over the top as well.

It's just a GIF. There are free apps like Gifworks.
I think even PowerPoint can be animated within the slides.
If that's your thing, definitely not mine, go for it.

You can do that by taking screenshots and pasting them into Macromedia Flash and making an animation with that. There is an Adobe program that does animtaions but I can't remember what it's called.
