I tried doing this once before .... while in the midst of another computer's hard drive death .... and cannot recall the exact problem, but I think it had to do with "writing to the CD" or something like that. Anyway, I was unsuccessful and haven't attempted it since then.
What I'd like to do, is transfer some photographs to a CD or DVD, whichever you guys recommend. The majority of them are macro shots of beasties and blooms and I'm wondering about the size to make them before transferring them as well, for best viewage.
They will be viewed only on a TV via DVD player at my Mum's place.
Once the CD or DVD is made, it will be final, as in no need to add more photos to it. I'll make another CD or DVD for future photos.
Could someone please give me clear instructions on how to go about this, please and thank you.

Personally, I recommend using a dvd if your photo`s are large and you have a lot of them and keeping them in they`re original size.
The reason for keeping them the original size, is once you resize them, you can`t go back to the original size and would lose quality and the ability to zoom in etc without the photo becoming pixelated.
Basically all you need to do is select which photo`s you want to burn to cd/dvd. Click edit/select all, right click and select send to cd/dvd. It will tell you, you have files waiting to be written to cd. Just follow the on screen instructions and you should be good to go.

It's that simple is it?
Heaven knows what my problem was then ... maybe the failing hard drive issue, eh?
I'll have to pop out and get a DVD tomorrow.
I thought I had one but just like everything else I tag for myself, "someone else" uses it so will give this a try on Sunday evening.
Thanks, Howard and thank you for the picture show, Sista.

OK, I'm armed with a new CD, and I hope CD-RW was the correct choice.
I've had way too much time to mull this over though and have decided to fancy it up by adding music; gussied up to become not just a picture show of my garden but as a birthday present for my Mum.
In another place and time, BM offered this product for enhancing photo slide shows: MS PhotoStory 3 which I have downloaded and had a quick look at. It seems easy, but before I begin, has anyone here actually used it and/or are there any other product suggestions, free-wise?
Thank you, in advance.

Keep them on a dvd and I also like to put them on a USB disk drive. That way if there is fire I can just grab the USB key and be out the door!

Of course I have, Sista! What a question!
*double-checks*
Yes, I do and you know that program you found: Photo Story3?
It's a great little program. and easy to use, even for me.
I had a practice play with it last night and made a wee slide show of my photographed bees, using Flight of the Bumblebee as the music.
It comes with a great assortment of tunes as well.
Wish me luck as I embark upon this next adventure.
I'll mark this thread solved, once I'm successful. Stay "tuned".

Have you ever met anyone so dithery about starting a project? LOL
I have another question before I start.
Do I need to know the make/model/year of my Mum's DVD player and the TV she'll be viewing it on to do this and ensure it will play properly?
A Staple's store clerk suggested this might be so, if the DVD player is older than 2 years.

Thanks muchly, Evil.
OK ... I'm really struggling trying to get this done, now.
I've procrastinated way too long and now my deadline is this weekend.
I am trying to transfer digital photographs to either CD's or DVD's to play on a TV DVD player. Whatever I'm doing is not working. I'll tell you more details in my post in a subsequent post in the morning as I'm a smidge too tired this moment to type out step by step what I have done and what the exact errors say, but this here is important I think:
When I go to my CD drive (E), it does not see that I have a CD-RW inserted, nor a DVD-RW.
PS. I've also decided to scale down "creatively" and make this simple ... no fancy schancy editing or music, just photos one after the other.

Ummm ... I think so, but not sure, Sista CD burner, maybe?
Here's what I've tried:
I select a photo > copy to CD > then a new box opens with files waiting to be written > click write these files to CD > another box opens, name CD and I do so > CD writing wizard opens and I click next > please wait ....writing files to CD ... then after 2 or so minutes I get this message:
the CD is then ejected.
So, I cancel the writing and close the wizard.
I tried using CD burner XP program that I downloaded from somewhere I get stuck, not knowing what categaory photographs fall under.
Holy crow am I dumb about this stuff but hopefully the smart TST members will be able to get me through this.

That's OK Sista ... I'll give that specific link that I saved before your edit ( burning photos) one last go and try your suggestion of data disc, but would appreciate you giving it a try when you can as I feel like I'm going in circles again.
The CDs and DVDs are new out of the package, both RWs.

I do have a question on this. On your computer tower, what does it say "exactly" as your CD player? It should label there what your CD player's able to do.
Find that out, and let me know.

On my tower CD slide-in-and-out-thingie it says: DVD ROM 16 x DVD on the left/ middle logo is LG/and on the right side compact disc [rewritable] ultra speed 52 x 24 x 52x
SysSpec.exe program states I have ... well I took a screen shot because it was too much to type ... look, when I ask it to analyse the disc, it says ???
