You Can do it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! | I'm having doubts
I've just now transferred the photographs from the memory stick to the other computer, and shortly will attempt a CD-R burn.
Trouble is ... and I'm a daft moo for not doing this eons ago ...
all of the photographs are named A 1, Cactus 2 etc in categories of species and blah blah blah, and not the order I want them displayed.
Is there an easy as pie way, once I have them in photo viewing order, to number them or arrange them so that they stay in order?
I'm too embarrassed to tell you how much time I've wasted rearranging them, time and time and again.
I think I'm calling in sick, today.

It depends on the software you use to write the CD - some will let you sort by date, by name, by media type or whatever. Some software bundled with the camera will allow you to preselect too.
I would have a prod round the system to see what is installed on it (if it is not one you use all the time1)

Thanks, Albert.
Is there a tool or method to change the names of sets of photographs while still in the folder, before I attempt to burn to CD-R? Easy-like?

The only way I know is one by one - highlight and press F2. Does that help?

Oh, poop. Off I go to number photographs, one by one.
*calls in sick for 3 days*
BTW, the computer I'm trying to attempt this burn on, got infected by some bloody fake anti-virus program Saturday night that keeps popping up messages and warnings, so I'm trying to work around that.
I will post in the security forums when I'm done with this project.
If it's not one thing, it's another.

LOL @ Albert.
I've just done a CD-R burn, successfully! So it can be done!
*happy dances on her chair*
It's still out of viewage order though, because I just used the wizard.
I'll await further responses, but may just go ahead and start re-numbering the photo set, while I wait as it will need doing at some point anyway.

Hey MQC, try this: Rename Files Quickly and Easily in Windows-D-FileMU
It's free, and seems to be what you need to use... If you like the looks of it, go ahead and download it from here: http://www.nirmaltv.com/wp-content/u...8/d-filemu.zip
I hope this helps you, and it seems to be a lot easier than manually "changing" it all.

I just tried it, and it's so easy! I think I'll be keeping this for incase I need it in the future.

I just finished renaming the last photo (#362) ... one by one ... (not an easy task for one afeared of numbers) manually.
I'll be better prepared for next time.
Thanks, CJ

Thanks, CJ | Sorry MQC! I didn't realize you were already numbering, figured I may have caught you in time. My bad! :P

Hey, that's OK, CJ.
I think I'll mark this thread solved, as I have been able to burn digital photos to a CD, using a computer ... just not this computer.
Thanks to you and everyone who helped, or tried to.

Um ...
It's been resolved then unresolved then resolved and I think I am nearly done.
The first crack at it after I'd changed all the file names, didn't work.
They copied from the memory stick to the folder on the desktop fine, but when spinning that onto a CD, they all went out of order again.
*exhausted sigh*
The computer I was using doesn't have Internets right now, and no other burning software that I could find, so started back at the beginning. Got them all in order (the extentions frigged up the first go, trial and error discovered) 1, 2, 3 etc and then saved it on the memory stick. I then used yet another computer to get them from the stick onto a folder and FINALLY in order on a CD, which I have viewed on the computer and which are quite impressive if I do say so myself.
*panting*
It was a cinch.
... and a mere 12 hours past the dead line (and less one day's pay)
Oh! Does anyone know what side of the CD I can write with permanent marker on?
I'd better have it properly labelled as these slim things seem to lose their cases.
I'm guessing the top side where the CD brand name wordage is.
I think that's all the questions I have.

Yeah, the top side is where you want to write on... where the label or brand name of the disc is.. that's the side you want to write on

Thanks, CJ. I thought as much.
Well, the package is in the mail and now we await da Queen's Mum's approval.
Thanks, again TST.
