I believe that's as small as you can get, but please feel free to prove me wrong.

I have no idea what I am looking at...
Looks like a bunch of numbers and letters to me..

It's all hexadecimal numbers. Every pair of two letters and/or numbers is base-16 number (0123456789ABCDEF).
Copy and paste it into a hex-editor and save it as "hide.jpg", to see the 1x1 pixel image.

Program, that allows you to view files on your harddrive as sets of hexadecimal numbers. I can remember cracking Wolf3D:SoD with nothing but a hex-editor! And yes, the copy was legit, I got the original CD from a friend, but he had long since thrown away the manual.
Edit: And the funny thing is until recently, all (if not, then most) GNOME applications wouldn't even recognise it as a valid JPEG.

I didn`t think you could get smaller that 1x1 pixel? So it was fairly obvious it was going to be the smallest jpeg hehe.
I just tested that idea out and got an image of 1x1 pixel and 633bytes, though I suspect it all depends on the quality/size of the original image.

LOL, I meant the smallest filesize, hence the concern over whether it was really valid or not.
Edit: The one you see above is exactly 134 bytes long, and I owe a beer/coke to the person who beats it (without cheating of course; posting stuff from other sites wont impress me)

I think there's a hexidecimal editor called Free hexidecimal editor lol.
I used it to cheat in an old @$$ X-COM game.

HxD for Windows and Bless for Linux, are some of the best hex-editors you'll find out there.
