Yes, this is truly sad. And there are varients of this sort of thing all over the world that go unnoticed.
And so many of us think that we have personal problems that are sooo important.
Yes, many things in this world are important. Relatively important in the grand scheme of things, but perhaps not absolutely important from a universal perspective.
And, yes, we should do everything we can to help alleviate such situations. And everyone can do something very simple. In our mind at the depths of our being, visualize the happiness and peace of the world for all people. And then carry on with this sort of attitude in our daily behaviour and interactions with others.
This sets up powerful vibrations in the field of life, and we need that to wash out the multitude of negative vibrations that people all over the world are sending out every moment - vibrations of anxiety, pessimism, ill feeling, anger, frustration, depression, and so on.
Our personal 'problems' begin to look so pitiful when we see what else is happening in the world.
To add joy and happiness to the world in any way, and to feel good about oneself every moment as a 'child of the universe' that can contribute value and much needed joy, is a good road map to follow in any of our life situations. We must rise above those petty emotions and desires of conditioned entrapment in the importance of self-image, for that can only give us more of what we have had up until now. NOW, is the beginning of the rest of your life experience. Aim high, climb high, and do not look back. The impossible will then become possible.

Then I realized from a question similar to your "how can we be comfy and content with OUR lives?" and there was the key. We often ask the wrong question and thus are lead to misunderstanding.
We think we have a personal life. That is conditioned thought speaking. Millenia of conditioning (including religions, superstitions, churches, etc....)
I realized, as many before me had, that life is impersonal and life is ONE. There are not MANY lives. There is only ONE LIFE with many expressions and many life situations in thosse expressions and human beings are but one expression of that ONE LIFE. Once this is grasped at its depth (and it cannot be done with thought) then everything falls into place. Our existence, that is the existence of the human expression of life is so short in comparison to the billions of years of the existence of the universe alone, that one must put all things into perspective. We are here to evolve, to bring as much happiness as we can to the world, the universe.
I am afraid that to continue in explanations may be fruitless. I have laid out the basic premise in the previous post quite clearly. This is something that either one comes to naturally at some point in their life experience or possibly not. On the grand scheme of things, nothing is lost. But as I said in the previous post, it is quite important to do all one can, seeing the sad circumstances in this world that constitutes the majority of our life experience.
I can only repeat from the previous post: Quote: |

I cant make a difference | What bigger picture? It is possible that we are misunderstanding each other.
Do not make anything personal because then all perspective of reality becomes distorted based on one's own conditioning, upbringing, etc. We are much more than the petty little images we have of ourselves.
Can one person solve the problems of the world or even the problems of another person? Think about it. We often want someone to be something we desire, we may want to change someone "for their own good", but all we can do is point in the direction we hope they will take. The journey is still theirs to take. If we coddle them, or try to "save" a nation, we may be doing someone a dishonour. We can point to the door, but they must open it and walk through.

I feel your sadness, Sista.
I haven't looked into the Tuberclosis problem but there are other ways you can save lives.
For $10 (a pack or 2 smokes?) you can save lives. Children's lives. Quote: What is malaria? The Problem: Fatal night biters
For many people in Canada, mosquitoes are a symbol of summer: an itchy nuisance at the park or around the camp fire. But for millions of people around the world, mosquitoes are deadly and carry a disease responsible for one million deaths every year. Imagine having to think about that when you step out into your backyard or go camping.
Certain types of mosquitoes found in many countries transmit a one cell parasite called Plasmodium which causes malaria, a disease of the blood. Countries in sub-Saharan Africa are particularly hard hit – suffering from 90% of all malaria fatalities. The After Bite
Malaria symptoms usually appear about 9 to 14 days after the infectious mosquito bite. Imagine a really bad flu—fever, headache, vomiting and extreme weakness.
If drugs are not accessible or if the parasites are resistant to them, the impact of the infection can be severe: coma, lifelong brain damage, paralysis and even death. The parasites simply take over the body, infecting and destroying red blood cells and clogging the capillaries that carry blood to the brain (cerebral malaria) or other vital organs. The Impact
Children, with their small bodies and immature immune systems, are particularly vulnerable to severe illness and death. In fact, every 30 seconds a child dies of malaria.
Malaria is the single biggest killer of African children under the age of five and accounts for one in five of all childhood deaths in Africa.
Malaria in pregnant women can lead to low birth weight, anaemia and a greater risk of death to their newborn babies. The Solution: Bed Nets & You
Malaria-carrying mosquitoes usually strike at night, between 10pm and 4am. Sleeping under an insecticide-treated bed net has been shown to reduce malaria transmission by at least 50 per cent and the mortality of children under five by up to 25 per cent. A simple solution and a huge impact: 1 Net. 10 Bucks. Save Lives. | Spread the Net and make a difference.
Brought in part to you by Rick Mercer, one of the funniest and smartest men in our country and on the planet for that matter, and my vote for King of the World.

Justification for any war? The way they ... our gubmit justifies everything: lies and more lies and ... I think I'll stop right there.
You can make a difference in your community, Sista by volunteering.
I spent just under 10 years doing that and I made an impact and a difference.

One woman | Yes, remarkable people who touch our hearts. At a deeper level they did not do what they did for public opinion or to receive kudos or to gain a place in 'heaven', but they saw what their place was in the scheme of life and performed accordingly, and non-personally, and the power of life and the universe responded and acted through them.
And also remarkable is that they showed others that monumental results are possible just beyond the limitations of thought.

I toldja up there a bit.
Start small. Volunteer to help an underprivilaged child read or an illiterate adult for that matter. Go to your community centre or food bank and help out there.
Start a fundraising campaign or form a group to gather items that children in poor counties need (paper/pens/ etc.).
You can make a difference; you just have to start somewhere and DO something.

how can i ??? | Perhaps you misunderstand me. That 'I' that 'wants to help' is the ego, the self-centred separating mechanism. It is what creates the negative energies and all the problems of the world.
People like sister Teresa, were, to some degree, free of that 'I' and thus could let the energy of the universe (or Spirit, or God, or whatever you want to call it) manifest through her. It is not that she 'let' something happen, it is like St. Francis of Assissi put it in his prayer/poem Quote:
Make me a channel of your peace,
Where there is hatred let me bring hope,...
| and so on.
As I put it somewhere else earlier, Quote: |
... we think that we think but it may be that thoughts think us.
| No one can help the world as a separate person, specifically because a separate person is and feels separate from the world. As J. Krishnamurti once put it "I am the world and the world is me." That is the attitude, (of complete submission to life) that brings total understanding, unity and empowerment in life.
Furthermore, it is interesting how we use language (a reflection of thinking) and how it often misleads us. We call a person an individual. But that is not true for the great majority of people. Because the word individual literally means "undivided" and from what we can see psychologically, in the mind, people are very divided and broken up about many things. Their understanding, their beliefs, their desires (which are often self-defeating) and their relationships with themselves, other people and the world. There is so much division in most people that it is a wonder we have not already destroyed human life on this world.

Thank you so much | Donna that is an outstanding idea.
You would shine in that capacity and think of all the children you could help.
Even if just one child could benefit your bottomless love and attention ...
If that doesn't work out for you, try something else. You'll find your niche.

I hope you do, Sista.
(((HUGS)))
It truly doesn't take that much effort to impact lives in ways you can never imagine. It will blow your mind.
Whatever the reason for us wanting to help others less fortunate than us, be it guilt, shame, a desire to unite with the world and empower the downtrodden and those with less or for purely selfish look-what-I-did feel-good reasons, the outcome is usually pretty good, regardless.
And everyone benefits, to boot.
