I didn't like Clinton at all, personally (slimeball) or politically but I've yet to meet a politician (U.S., Canadian or otherwise) that I like, through and through.
Liars the lot of them.
When voting, it's usually me picking the lessor of two evils, and "hoping" for the best ... or the least future damage.
I'd go mad if I were in the U.S. though ... the election processes go on ... forever.
If I had my druthers and could vote for anyone in this election, and based on what I've read here ...
I'd choose Gunner for Prez.

ME??? Things are desperate if it's down to this.
My kids and grand kids run roughshod over me and think I'm just an old softy.
I can armchair quarterback with the best of them though.

I've lost faith in government completely.
Come to think of it, I don't know if I ever had any. My opinion on the matter never really mattered until I turned 18, and I was far past wanting to vote by then. I'd seen enough of the flip-flopping, lack of responsibility, and money exchanges that I simply wanted nothing to do with it.
We don't even get to choose anymore. The electoral college does that for us, and they always choose whomever they feel is going to serve their best interests. We preach and prostitute democracy to other countries when we don't even have the system working for ourselves.
I don't care who gets the presidency anymore. Everyone appears to be a decent character on the outside from the start, and then 2 years down the road life suddenly becomes much crappier than it used to be.
As a matter of fact, I'd like to see one...just ONE...election...where nobody voted at all as a show of disapproval and dissatisfaction with the American government.
Gunner, with the way things are going, even you would 1000 times better than any of the candidates. Knowing you semi-personally, reading your writing and your thoughts, all of us here can certainly tell that you're more than qualified. It'd be an honor if you took the job, and you'd be doing us and the country a favor.
But that's unlikely to happen...so I'll just go with this:
F*** politics and the government.
I love the United States and couldn't think of anywhere else that I'd rather live. It's just that this country and its government has completely ruined the voting system, the government, and everything we ever stood for since we gained our independence. Jefferson, Washington, Hancock, and all the others would start a war with us over the changes we made. We've lost our way, and until we find it again with someone who really is honest, trustworthy, and a hard-worker who works toward a positive goal, then my vote will never grace the polls.

Barack Obama as president would be scary. Heck the guy pretty much won't even salute the flag of the United States. I don't know if anybody watched the little "sit down" that Rick Warren had with both Obama and Mcain. But Obama pretty much side stepped every question Rick Warren threw at him. He never gave a straight yes or no answer. He pretty much tried to avoid everything. Not to mention he went to that church for 20 years that basicly hates America yet they freaking live here!!! I will definitely be voting for Mcain.
And I pretty much disagree with Obama on every subject.

Not a dig at anyone here but I think as a whole Americans are too patriotic. England's England its where I live I wouldn't care less if the guy or girl running the country hated it. I do sometimes, as long as he respected every one there and made the right decisions not just for the country but for the rest of the world as well. The worlds powers really have gotta work to earn respect back from the rest of the world.
Were never gonna win eurovision with every one hating us lol

Damn right we are . That's what makes us American. Although the problem with that is that we've changed the way we express our patriotism over the decades.
What's worse, we won't be the most powerful for much longer either. Stupid Chinese with their cheap labor and uber high production with their billion people and loads of chinese people, bad drivers great wall(s) thousands of chinese food restaurants pollution and that Olympian chick who more than likely is under 16....lol sorry i felt like going on some stupid rant.
that brings me to another thought. Maybe we should have a rant thread? somebody brings up something, and we just rant about it lol...would be kind of interesting...could be funny for those creative ones

Im sorry but I completely disagree. If someone hates the country they are trying to become president of then why in the first place are they running??
Yes I am definitely a Patriotic American! And definitely proud to be one! If someone is born and raised here and hates the country then they can just leave for all I care. There are all sorts of countries they can choose from that are fine to live in. I say pick one and move there!
I absolutely love this well e-mail cuse it was one. Quote:
Subject: Dreaming the impossible dream
WOULDN'T IT BE GREAT TO TURN ON THE TV AND HEAR ANY U.S. PRESIDENT, DEMOCRAT OR REPUBLICAN, GIVE THE FOLLOWING SPEECH?
'My Fellow Americans: As you all know, the defeat of the Iraq regime has been completed.
Since congress does not want to spend any more money on this war, our mission in Iraq is complete.
This morning I gave the order for a complete removal of all American forces from Iraq&nbs p ;. This action will be complete within 30 days. It is now time to begin the reckoning.
Before me, I have two lists. One list contains the names of countries which have stood by our side during th e Iraq < /U> conflict. This list is short . The United Kingdom, Spain, Bulgaria, Australia, and Poland are some of the countries listed there.
The other list contains every one not on the first list. Most of the world's nations are on that list. My press secretary will be distributing copies of both lists later this evening.
Let me start by saying that effective immediately, foreign aid to those nations on List 2 ceases immediately and indefinitely. The money saved during the first year alone will pretty much pay for the costs of the Iraqi war. THEN EVERY YEAR THERE AFTER IT'll GO TO OUR SOCIAL SECURITY SYSTEM SO IT WONT GO BROKE IN 20 YEARS.
The American people are no longer going to pour money into third world Hell holes and watch those government leaders grow fat on corruption.
Need help with a famine? Wrestling with an epidemic? Call France.
In the future, together with Congress, I will work to redi re ct this m oney toward solving the vexing social problems we still have at home. On that note, a word to terrorist organizations. Screw with us and we will hunt you down and eliminate you and all your friends from the face of the earth.
Thirsting for a gutsy country to terrorize? Try France or maybe China.
I am ordering the immediate severing of diplomatic relations with France, Germany, and Russia Thanks for all your help, comrades. We are retiring from NATO as well. Bonne chance, mezamies.
I have instructed the Mayor of New York City to begin towing the many UN diplomatic vehicles located in Manhattan with more than two unpaid parking tickets to sites where those vehicles will be stripped, shredded and crushed. I don't care about whatever treaty pertains to this. You creeps have tens of thousands o f u npaid tickets. Pay those tickets tomorrow or watch your precious Benzes, Beamers and limos be turned over to some of the finest chop shops in the world. I love New York.
A special note to our neighbors. Canada is on List 2. Since we are likely to be seeing a lot more of each other, you folks might want to try not pissing us off for a change.
Mexico is also on List 2. It's president and his entire corrupt government really need an attitude adjustment. I will have a couple extra thousand tanks and infantry divisions sitting around. Guess where I am going to put'em? Yep, border security
Oh, by the way, the United States is abrogating the NAFTA treaty - starting now.
We are tired of the one-way highway. Immediately, we'll be drilling for oil in Alaska which will take care of this country's oil needs for decades to come. If you're an environmentalist who opposes this decision, I refer you to List 2 above: pick a country and move there.
It is time for America to focus on its own welfare and its own citizens. Some will accuse us of isolationism. I answer them by saying, 'darn tootin.'
Nearly a century of trying to help folks live a decent life around the world has only earned us the undying enmity of just about everyone on the planet. It is time to eliminate hunger in America. It is time to eliminate homelessness in America. To the nations on List 1, a final thought. Thank you guys. We owe you and we won't forget..
To the nations on List 2, a final thought: You mig ht want to learn to speak Arabic.
God bless America .. Thank you and good night.'
If you can read this, thank a teacher.. If you are reading it in English, thank a soldier.

Rant thread? This is one, isn't it?
But I digress. Back to the POTUS election soap opera...
Still oldest man, first black and first woman running, skipping, jumping, stumbling...
And who in the he!! is Sarah Palin? Alaska?
I know it's the 49th State but may as well be another country as far as I'm concerned.
We have to laugh as sometimes it's funnier than a **** Van Dyke show.
Sorry. Let me regroup and gather my thoughts again. Quote: |
