Yea, not sure 'what' virus scanner is used. I'll have to look into that some more.
Found it. Quote: Anti-Virus Software
Firefox 3 integrates elegantly with your antivirus software. When you download a file, your computer’s antivirus program automatically checks it to protect you against viruses and other malware, which could otherwise attack your computer. Well thats nifty! Pretty nice little bit of software. Though if I started to download something malicious Avast would pick it up. Nonetheless pretty cool.

True, but this way the installer itself is scanned, therefore less chance of launching something really nasty that may disable the AV.

Just like they did when Firefox 2 dropped, Microsoft has sent the guys over at Mozilla a congratulatory cake. The nerd food was delivered in person and was graciously accepted by the Firefox crew, who managed to hold back snide remarks about the cake's standard compliance and proprietary recipe long enough to take a few pictures. At least Microsoft has a sense of humor about their eroding market share.

Yeah, but that will just be the total amount of downloads, Download Day finished at 7pm (GMT) so only ones before then will count.

At the beginning of the event they didn't even the correct firefox download up. It was still the old version. And with all the problems loading the dang page. But still over 8 mil downloads in 24 hours. Thats pretty good.
