Yea, not sure 'what' virus scanner is used. I'll have to look into that some more.

Found it.

Firefox 3 integrates elegantly with your antivirus software. When you download a file, your computer’s antivirus program automatically checks it to protect you against viruses and other malware, which could otherwise attack your computer. [available in Windows only]

Well thats nifty! Pretty nice little bit of software. Though if I started to download something malicious Avast would pick it up. Nonetheless pretty cool.

True, but this way the installer itself is scanned, therefore less chance of launching something really nasty that may disable the AV.

Just like they did when Firefox 2 dropped, Microsoft has sent the guys over at Mozilla a congratulatory cake. The nerd food was delivered in person and was graciously accepted by the Firefox crew, who managed to hold back snide remarks about the cake's standard compliance and proprietary recipe long enough to take a few pictures. At least Microsoft has a sense of humor about their eroding market share.

No, they're in a dispute: BBC NEWS | dot.life | A blog about technology from BBC News | Firefox 3 - triumph or disaster?

Total disaster!

At the beginning of the event they didn't even the correct firefox download up. It was still the old version. And with all the problems loading the dang page. But still over 8 mil downloads in 24 hours. Thats pretty good.
