I`m certainly one looking forward to Intels new 45nm processors.
Ok, so let`s take a look at the new processors. What`s New on 45nm?
* Enhanced Intel Core microarchitecture on 45nm.
This gives improved performance across the board.
* Intel HD Boost
Improved multimedia performance; Video editing, encoding, Photo Editing.
* Higher Frequencies, Larger Caches, Faster - front side bus.
More throughput, less waiting!
* Improved Energy Efficiency!
==================
Intel have already announced prices for these new 45nm processors; Quote: |
Intel® 45nm high-k (Hi-k) metal gate silicon technology is the next-generation Intel® Core™ microarchitecture. With roughly twice the density of Intel® 65nm technology, Intel's 45nm packs about double the number of transistors into the same silicon space. That's more than 400 million transistors for dual-core processors and more than 800 million for quad-core. Intel's 45nm technology enables great performance leaps, up to 50-percent larger L2 cache, and new levels of breakthrough energy efficiency.
| Go here and see the excellent demo from Intel showing the improvements for the new 45nm processors.
I for one are looking forward to these new processors.
Regards Jason

Well Intel already have a 45nm procesor out with the QX9650. But damn I can't wait to see what they are like when the rest of them are released! Intel are really dominating AMD now and are just cruising ahead. Can't wait to see what's out when I build a new one at the end of this year, because i'll be getting the best, and that's exactly what Intel are! |

But at what price? Market domination never did the consumer any good - just see what the supermarkets have done to both ends of the supply chain!

I certainly cannot wait. I`m also building a new computer this year, and I want the best of the best. Quote:

Well, there should be some good reviews for all these 45nm processors lol. Hopefully, I will have purchased the review software that I`m thinking about getting, which can be found here.

well AMD have released their new Quad Core though of course not without compatabiliy issues. Then again AMD have teamed up with nVidea so that does go in AMD's favour.
If im honset always used to use AMD but struggle to find one that is good enough for a decent price so switched to Intel. Just got 2 BRAND NEW Intel Celeron CPU's 2.6Ghz for £6 (bout $12.50) bargaing |

Maybe you didn't read.
Q6600 uses 65nm... Q9XXX uses 45nm, it uses much less power than Q chips.
