Well, i have thrown the 512meg ddr400 in with my existing one and i gotta say woaaaaaaa, had no idea my pc would be so quick with a gig in it.

Gotta keep an eye on things for a while but so far so good.

To say im chuffed is an understatement.

Thanks for all the advice everyone. It is now coming up to 24 hours with the mixed manufacturer ddr400 ram in my pc and i have had absolutely no problems of any kind.
The increase in performance is really quite astounding, i am very pleasantly surprised indeed.

That`s really good mate.

All you need to do now is a format and your system will really fly(private joke).

The problem is, although i now have 3 hard drives, i only had the one 200gig when i built and installed my system.

The 200 gig drive is almost full (13.1gig free space) and i don't have the space to back it up.

My 40gig has 632meg free and my 80gig has 16gig of free space.

I am simply out of room to do a backup and re-install with at the moment.

Wow. What do you have your computer that is taking up so much space?

Well, on a serious note. You know what will happen if one of your hard drives or something fails. If you don`t get your stuff backed up, you`re gonna be stuffed eventually mate.

At the moment i have a lot of very large .wav files on my pc as i am in the process of backing up some of my large vinyl collection. Filtering and improving the sound quality is a time consuming job and uses half a gig a song of hard drive space. I only have to make one edit of a song and that's a gig used.

I have 2 250gig sata hard drives that i will be fitting once i have repaierd them (the connectors are damaged). Once those are in i can then sort my system out properly, until then, i'm stuffed.

Remember, the system will default to the speed of the slowest chunk of RAM installed. Sorry to be negative and a boring old fart but there you go!

I have put just the 2x 512gig ddr400 sticks in. left the ddr333 out altogether. Asus mobo's are particularly bad with mismatched ram so.....

[Edit] I recon this thread has come to a happy conclucion so i will mark it solved.

If i have any further problems i will PM myself in order to get it re-opened.
