So for the few of you who have already seen this on R.C.E., disregard this one. I put it here so some other people could give me some input.
Guess what everyone! I've finally started ordering parts for the computer I'm building. Here are the parts I'm getting. Note: Everything minus the cpu and mobo are subject to change in the event that someone finds something better for me.The reason those two aren't allowed to change are because those are the two parts I ordered, for roughly $146. Anywho, here are the parts:
Western Digital WD2500AAJS Caviar SE 250GB Western Digital WD2500AAJS Caviar SE 250GB Hard Drive - 7200, 8MB, SATA-300, OEM at TigerDirect.com
AMD Athlon 64 X2 7750 Kuma 2.7GHz 2 x 512KB L2 Cache 2MB L3 Cache Socket AM2+ 95W Newegg.com - AMD Athlon 64 X2 7750 Kuma 2.7GHz 2 x 512KB L2 Cache 2MB L3 Cache Socket AM2+ 95W Dual-Core black edition Processor - Processors - Desktops PURCHASED
GIGABYTE GA-MA770-UD3 AM2+/AM2 AMD 770 ATX Newegg.com - GIGABYTE GA-MA770-UD3 AM2+/AM2 AMD 770 ATX AMD Motherboard - AMD Motherboards PURCHASED
OCZ 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Newegg.com - OCZ 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Desktop Memory
XFX PVT98GYDLU GeForce 9800 GT 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 Newegg.com - XFX PVT98GYDLU GeForce 9800 GT 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards
Nine Hundred ATX Gaming Case Micro Center - Nine Hundred ATX Gaming Case
500 Watt ATX Power Supply Micro Center - 500 Watt ATX Power Supply
There are a few things I'd like to say about some of these items. The first being that I'm not too sure if I should go with that video card....I'm thinking there's something better out there for about the same price that I haven't noticed yet, most likely from ATI but I don't know jack about 'em so I haven't really looked into it.
Next would be the Antec Nine Hundred case I'm getting. I mostly picked it because of the really nice cooling it has, and it looks pretty nice. Any opinions about it whether it has to do with its looks, cooling ability or whether I should get a different/bigger one or not.
Then last is the PSU. I really was not sure what to go for with that so I just kind of picked that one because it seemed like a safe bet. I'm starting to think that maybe I should get one with more juice or something. Maybe someone can help me out with that?
Oh and I forgot to mention...all of this adds up to roughly $500 which definitely isn't bad. If anyone can tell me some things about how the finished product will be as far as gaming, speed, other capabilities, would definitely be much appreciated.
Thanks for reading this uber long post

lmao you already asked me on RCE...so I'll give you the same answer:
"i'm not too sure what OS i want to use. I might settle with one of the vistas cause newer games are made to go with it and direct x 10."

The worth burgers of this forum might not be on RCE so your wisdom will be lost to them!
I only asked as together with the optical drive it was missing from the spec.
If you have not built your own machine before, I am sure there is a thread around with loads of advice on how to do it!

Make sure whichever OS you choose to go with the 64 bit one as the 32 bit OS's will not use 4GB's of RAM.

Got my mobo and cpu in the mail today, looks nice and pretty, and it did come with the stock cooler like I expected. I'm not used to seeing such a colorful motherboard, nor any of the other things that come with more recent boards and processors. (SATA things, PCI-E, AM2 socket, etc.)
Oh an Alan that's a good thing for you to point out to me. I just so happened to realize that earlier when I was flipping through the mobo's manual. If you noticed, the board supports a whopping 16gb which is absolutely insane lol.
Now all I need is like another $350+

However, 64 bit windows means a lot of programs etc. won't install easily - especially if certain programs aren't supported by win64. There are ways around it etc but it is another thing to be careful of and consider.
I'm sure there is help here if you get to this obsticle

Well, I owe my friend just 425 dollars for just motherboard, psu, cpu and ram, that's just a start.
Later this year, I'll get to upgrade little more, and probably get Lian-Li A05b case.

In which case it will make something almost completely unlike tea - I think we are on the same wavelength here!

Dunno - have not tried! Besides I am not that desperate to look at anything on the net while I am out and about! Clients can wait....
