Mobo front panel audio connector

Hi all, I have an Asus K8V-X mobo and I can't seem to get the front panel microphone to work.

The mic works fine in the back socket so I know there isn't a problem with my mic. The headphones work in both the back socket and which ever front panel I have plugged in.

Both my case and my Aerocool PowerWatch have mic sockets but I have been unable to get either of them to work.

In my mobo manual I have located the mic connections which are Audio ground, Mic2, and MicPwr.

The problem is i cannot seem to figure the wiring for either front panel.

Does anyone have any idea's or information that may be of use?

Rik, try this
open up the Volume Control Properties by double clicking on the Volume Icon
Click on Options then Advanced Controls
this will put Advanced buttons under the Master Vol and Microphone sliders
click on the Advanced button for the Microphone
place a tick in the box "Front Panel Microphone"
Close

How does that do?

I had to swap around 2 of the wires in the header and do as you suggested Klunk and it now works perfectly.

I can't believe i didn't check the audio properties. DOH!!!

Thanx Klunk.
