Does the wait for the AMD quad core put you off buying it?

With the huge delay of the AMD Quad Core, and the Intel Penryn soon to be released with a massive 12mb cache, are you put off from buying an AMD quad core? And will it even be worth the wait once it's released? Could this be AMD's Downfall? Or will the wait and the loyalty of customers pay off? Let us know your thoughts

No, what puts me off buying a CPU is the price and the fact it isn't compatible in any of my motherboards!

No, but since Intel is ahead of AMD on energy and heat efficient cpus, I have to switch and go for the new 45nm core.

In commercial terms AMD have a major disaster on their hands - this thing is far too late and when it does hit the shelves it is going to be overpriced and uncompetitive. The best thing they can do with it is do some deals on bundles with boards, coolers and RAM just to muddy the waters so some of the purchasing masses will not realise what they are getting and how much they are really paying for it.
I don't want Intel to dominate the market for all sorts of reasons, but I have clients to think of and if I don't get them the best deals I will end up with no clients.

well it has been over a year before AMD released there version of the Quad Core. actually posted a couple threads on the Quad Core issues.

AMD / Intel ??? Quad or Dual Core ???
NEW AMD Athlon 64 FX7 Series => 2 CPU Boards?

think AMD have waited too long to release the Quad Core and to be honest by the time that they have release a proper Quad Core CPU, Intel will be well above them i the market.

AMD are going to have to get their act together and get some properly good CPU's out to really compete with Intel if they want to keep up.

If they're trying to go for the "cheap solution", then fair enough, but they're not really doing that very well, either. For example:

Top end Phenom 9600 £157

Q6600 £150

As well as being that bit cheaper, the Intel also has a higher clock speed, and as we all know, brilliant overclockability
