it also depends on the quality of the fan. a scythe fan that has a much better CFM rating and a very low decibel level is going to produce better and more effective results than stock fans that came with the computer. and then some experimentation with various placement combinations to find the best airflow to cool the case will be necessary.
getting a few more high quality scythe model fans is also one of my top priorities. but they're 25 bucks a pop

I don't suppose you can magic up a pic of a scythe fan mate, I've not heard of them before
2 of my case fans have more blades than normal and are only 15mm thick, but they were cheap so I expect it's something else.
Here's a pic from the Hiper site:
It has blue LED's in though, but that's a good pic of it turned off.
19dbA and 21CFM, good enough for me hehe.

I have one of them fans too Dave . From ebuyer hehe. The best fans IMO are Noctua fans for a perfect balance of noise and airflow. The new P12 model is great

Yay I got two of them from eBay to replace the 80mm's that came with my case as these ones are quieter and slimmer, which is good when I need to remove my PSU
Not seen them either mate hehe, but I have a Sharkoon one which is good, it has dimples on the blades like a golf ball, so it spins slower than the 80mm I have next to it, by a good few hundred RPM, but it has almost exactly the same CFM rating. Can't remember the make of my other fan, I think it's a CoolerMaster.
Plus the Sharkoon one looks cool because it's black with white blades hehe, not that you can see it any more because it's in front of my HDD's

That looks like a nice fan mate, might get me one of them hehe. I might get another Sharkoon to go next to the current one to try and lower the dbA a bit, but not for a while, seeing as it's a nightmare getting the front of my case off
I have the pieces of card that go on the back of the packaging for the fans I have, the Sharkoon specs are:
1000 RPM
11.35CFM
8.9dbA
And the CoolerMaster:
1400RPM
15.75CFM
13dbA
The CoolerMaster has a slightly higher CFM than I thought it did, but they're pretty close anyway.
The Hiper fans are the loudest at 2k RPM and 19dbA, but they're pretty quiet for LED ones, I don't think you can get much better than that and still have the blue glowyness hehe.
Click pic for Sharkoon site, I have the first one in the table.
Ooh, just seen your bit at the end hehe. There's a pic for everyone else anyway

Nice. They give off some good airflow for the noise and size. These are the speeds and fan noises of the P12:-
19.8 dB - 54.3CFM
16.9 dB - 46.2CFM - With L.N.A
12.6 dB - 37.3CFM - with U.L.N.A
I think they are fantastic. I have a 92mm one but I also want one of these to replace my Silverstone 120mm which is in my new case for my new low budget build. It's £14.09 in Overclockers

you guys have never heard of Scythe USA? O.O
they're one of the better fan makers and newegg hosts their products. Newegg.com - Scythe S-FLEX SFF21F 120mm Case Fan - Retail
CFM rating of 63.7, but the decibel levels are a little high. about 28 dba.
thermaltake makes some very very decent fans as well. CFM rating of 62.2 and decibel level of about 16 dba. Newegg.com - Thermaltake A2329 120mm Case Fan - Retail
i might get a few of the latter instead of the scythe in retrospect. similar specs, half the price, and makes less noise.

Nope, ever heard of Scythe mate.
I have a 120mm TT LED fan in the back of my case, I haven't got the card for it but it moves more air than my 2 80mm's next to each other, and it's pretty quiet. Plus with having it at the back of my case, when I turn my nights off, the wall turns blue hehehe.

Each unto his own - blue walls Dave? What do you get up to in there (with the windows open!)?
Me - I just want the sodding thing to be quiet and cool. Which it seems to be at the moment but when the summer comes.......

Same here mate, it starts off cool in the morning but then warms up and doesn't cool down much hehe.
Interestingly, I have 2 blue walls and 2 yellow My PC backs on to a yellow one so when the lights are off it turns blue instead hehe. I've tried taking a pic before but it doesn't come through on camera. It just looks grainy and nasty hehe.

So you must have green LEDs?

Nah, all the LED's (and indeed CCFL's) in my PC are blue, but the ones in the TT fan are quite bright so it just goes completely over the yellow

Yeah i've heard of Skythe. I also think they make some top quality fans. I think Noctua make the best performance in terms of dbA to CFM ratio
