Weird effects of RAM not seated properly

I thought I had seen most horrors but this one was out of order.
New build - very slow to load from the install CD and kept failing the file copy process.
Replaced CD - no improvement. Replaced CD drive - no improvement. Removed 1 of the 2 modules - instant results. Refitted suspect module - still at the best speed. Conclude that the module had not seated properly, despite being locked in place, and that this was stopping the file transfer from the CD.
I have seen this before but never as dramatic is this was.
Moral - seat your modules, dudes!
