Just recently, my desktop of 3 yrs died on me. I was using my com & left the room for awhile, when i returned, graphics was still showing on my monitor but the mouse cursor wasn't moving so i assumed my com hanged. Turned off my com by holding power button for few secs. Pressed power button to on it back but it wouldn't on at all. The mobo led light is green indicating power. but other than tt,
none of the fans spin, no beeps, no bios post nothing.
I brought my desktop over to my friend's place to try out what was wrong. So i plugged my power supply to his motherboard & his com started up, means my power supply is fine. Did the reverse but my com still did not power up altho there was the green led light on my mobo. Did a few tests, power button fine, graphics card fine. deduced tt it's either mobo or CPU spoiled. but i might be wrong.
So the question here to all would be, how would i be able to tell if it is my mobo or CPU tt is spoiled? Can a motherboard be spoilt if the green LED light is on? I do not have thermal compound so was nt able to switch the CPU. Pls help me solve this. As i'm still a student on a budget, i do not want to waste $$ buying some parts and then realise it's nt tt problem. thanks.
