Recently, I have been fighting a problem getting into safe mode on one of my systems. After envisioning several malware issues that might be causing the problem, I determined that the "M/S Office enabled" keyboard I was using was changing the function of the F keys upon the system completing the post. I could not unlock the "office lock" fast enough to use the F8 key. Swapped keyboards and all was ok. Not the most frustrating problem ever, but it had me scratching my head for a while.

Quick update.
It now appears my other hard drive is also damaged. That`s just great grrr.
Just had to borrow a spare drive off of a mate of mine. Fortunately, I was able to image the drive with a backup, so I haven`t lost any data.
I`m just a little miffed that I now need two new drives.

Yes, my data is the main thing.
I always advise folks to make regular backups. You never know when something is going fail.

You`d think that folks would already realise the importance of backups.
I guess they just think that hardware just lasts forever.

An ASDL USB modem, spent 5 hours trying to get the dam thing to work, ocassionally it would connect and drop out after a couple of minutes.
I have a Belkin housing with a 160gb drive ( it will also house a DVD/CD RW), which i use to back up my computers every week, and Acronis has saved me a few times.

Actually, now Alan2273's mentioned it, I had a rather frustrating time with 2 routers - both Linksys WAG200G. The first one worked fine for a couple of days, then it went crazy and wouldn't connect again, so we got a replacement and that didn't work either, so we sent that back for a refund. They were both tested faulty be ebuyer and I put a review up there. Quote:
I'd like to start by saying that this is a brilliant router and that I'd recommend it to anyone. Unfortunately I can't say that. We bought one of these routers and set it up (it took about 1.5 hours to get going and this isn't, by far, my first time doing this) and then it went well for about 2 days. After that it disconnected from the Internet so i tried to get it to connect again but it refused to connect or even acknowledge that a DSL connection was possible.
After going round in a circle for about 3 hours, I decided to send it back. The RMA process was excellent - first time I've had to return an item to Ebuyer and it went very smoothly and quickly. I got an email saying that the returned item was tested faulty and that a new one had been dispatched. Unfortunately, though, I've had exactly the same problem on the second router. It will not connect no matter what I try - the settings are the same as on our old router - so I have decided to go back to using our old router.
Overall, very disappointed with this product. What are the chances of having 2 faulty products in a row? I have sent this replacement back to be refunded and I will not be buying another router from what I thought was a reputable and reliable brand.
| Wasn't very happy about having 2 faulty routers in a row, as you can tell!
