Sooner or later Britain may well become the odd man out in Europe.
Over to you

No way should we take the Euro.
Not unless it's going to stop it from being rip off Britain any more, which won't happen if any government in this country has anything to say about it

I have voted no.
My reason? When we went from imperial to metric it was used to "hide" a price hike and we all know the exact same thing would happen if we converted to the euro.

Could you expand on that a bit?

What's the point in changing?

I voted no, but seeing as we are the only Country that acually implements European legislation, it is only a matter of time.

You can always adopt the dollar. Then you could feel like you were paying less for merchandise. |

If only to stop the banks making more money out of exchange I say we adopt it. Proper £sd disappeared years ago and this horrible new stuff just wears holes in your pockets.

No, I don't think we should. It's just completely pointless and I don't see the point in changing after using £'s all these years.
Fake pounds are rising, though. Be on the lookout!

A bit off topic perhaps - but what would you do with a bad pound coin? Hand it in or shift it on sharpish at your most hated shop?

We used to have to check all £20 notes that we got given at work (and they probably still do), because we got given a few fakes. One of them was a really obvious photocopy on normal paper

Wonder what prompted this thread -- some new report, perhaps?
Either way, I'd have to say ... I don't know what difference(s) it would make in real terms.
If we end up (as oldie suggests) the only member of Club A (£s) and the only non-member of Club B (€s) then ... maybe we'd be "marginalised". (?) Quote: |

Official advice if you suspect that one of your coins is not genuine is to take it to your local police station and hand it over. Will people get their pound back? "No, they won't," says a spokeswoman http://www.guardian.co.uk/money/2008.../scamsandfraud

I voted no, the cost of living rises immediately, I know from experience that Spain has become far more expensive since they lost the peseta, it was false economy from the start.
now that's my 2 penn'worth
