Just a thought and no one here may like it - but that's OK.
"Guns don't kill people. PEOPLE KILL PEOPLE". Even if they mechanize the killing, it is still people doing the mechanizing with the intention of killing people.
So the solution to ALL perceived problems might very well be considered as people and how they think about whatever. Quote: |
link590o - You can't necessarily deprive people of their defense mechanism
| Why do people think they need a defense mechanism? Can we be a little more intelligent and solve our people problems so that weapons are never a consideration for anything?
The human condition --> " LOST IN THOUGHT".

I don't know about you but I would like to have a gun if some crazy sick psychopath breaks into my house, with me in it, and trys to kill me or whatever.
Good luck trying to talk out the problem with him. He'll just laugh at you and then continue trying to kill you.

Jumping to conclusions like 'I need a gun to protect myself' demonstrates the irrationality that has perpetuated problems in our world.

Thats the problem though. Humans will never be able to sit down and discuss a problem that they are having intelligently. Don't get me wrong, that would be great if we could actually do that. It would solve a whole lot of violence that happens today. Quote:

There will always be those people that want to do harm to another person.

The old paradigm of revenge, or return ill for ill etc... is on its way to being replaced by a new paradigm of treating one another with respect and understanding.
Grant it, not that many people around the world have progressed to this stage yet, but daily the numbers are growing, and the point of critical mass may soon be in sight.
It is generally unhealthy to hold grudges and live in fear or insecurity. To think that one needs to defend oneself may be a reality in some parts of the world at this time, but it becomes daily more evident in our modern society that people have carried a paranoia of insecurity from the past history of mankind into their personal lives. As mankind approaches the realization that there is only ONE life and that we are all various manifestations of that ONE life and therfore inseparably part of it, then one begins to realize that doing harm to another is in actuality doing harm to oneself. This is the direction of the new paradigm of life, well actually not new, it has always been so, but mankind is quickly reaching a maturity where, as a whole, we are beginning to allow it into our lives as the reality of life. Those who cannot yet 'see' this, do of course feel separated from everyone else, paranoid, and are left with a feeling of insecurity. Thus they feel a superficial need (which to them appears quite real) that they require instruments to ensure their protection, and this adds to feelings of insecurity for other members of society. And as has been demonstrated repeatedly throughout history, these instruments of protection never do solve the problem and often lead to more aggression and provide a false sense of security.
Weapons of any sort, will never solve our problems nor ensure our security, only a changed perception of life can do that.
Cheers,

think about it, making guns illegal wont stop gun violence, if their gonna commit a crime with a gun, they'll just commit a crime to get one if their illegal, then hows a law abiding citizen supposed to defend themselves?
P.S. .50 cals are the shiz niz, i use one in my Unit, lol
