Dave, go with the 8800GT. I love mine! A very nice card.

I noticed that my processor was having an incredibly rough time with the processor tests. I was often getting less than 1 frame per second. I can't help but wonder why it performs so poorly being a dual core and all. Does anyone get results above that with their processor?

I thought that was normal mate. Mine fluctuates between 1 and 2FPS on the CPU test.

Eh...just checking. It was the one area that really failed the most. All the other graphics tests resulted in frame rates no lower than 30. And they only ever dipped that low when it was a really intense scene. So elsewhere, I was getting 60 and above. Hence my decent score.

Nah it's meant to be like that, because the CPU alone is producing the graphics power on that test, hence the poor framerates, but it is normal. Check for yourself on the net if you're unsure, but I guarantee you that it's normal that it gets that.

Hm...I wonder if one day processors will get so strong that just a single processor (whether it's dual, triple, quad core or what have you) will be able to produce 30 frames per second. That'd be an interesting day.

It's already being developed I think

Ya mine never gets very good frame rates on that test. About 1. Or less. I don't have the best CPU.

Neither do I, though mine does somewhat outperform yours. But my point is that neither of us have...like...a Q9650 or anything like that.
I could see that maybe a server computer that uses 3 processors at once might perhaps yield a good deal more frames on this sort of a test.

The only difference between men and boys is the price in their toys!

even a Q9650 would only get about 2-3FPS max It's just the way that test is

I suppose those are you new specs up Dave? Very nice! Good choice in RAM.
lol I have the AMD 4600+. Pretty decent CPU I must say.

Cheers mate I'm happy with it hehe. I was originally going to get a 4400+, but the site stopped selling it, and the 4800 was £10 cheaper than the 4600 for some reason
Just noticed something, it says I have a 120GB HDD when it's actually 320. Better change that!
The RAM is dual channel and 4-4-4-12, so it's a fair bit faster than my old DDR 266MHz stuff
