The great thing about You Tube is the great variety of videos, not only music! I download all sorts of things and make movie DVDs. We really enjoy music from the past "great" performers.
Although some contemporary music is really wonderfull, we find that the real classics of the past keep reappearing in performances by the 'best' contemporary artists worldwide.
For example, Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" (Canadian), has made a great comeback in recent years. That is just one example and there are many, many more. A classic earns its place because it leaves such a great vibratory imprint on the mass consciousness of a society. And because of this it is 'durable' and enduring and can last for decades, not just a few years like most 'popular' music in any category.
