Howard makes a great point. XP is solid as a rock in most cases.
Hardware or drivers are more common causes of crashes than the OS itself.
Back in the day, and I was in it to my neck, hardware blamed software,
software blamed hardware, and then both blamed the phone company.
Hardware and software probs were easier to separate back then but now
takes special skills to localize specific faults much less isolate them consistently.
It can be a real PITA unfortunately but when the culprit is found, it is a great
satisfaction of accomplishment. Trial and error and swapouts with known working
components are a must in many instances.
I have never been one for throwing up my hands and demanding/doing a clean
install of an OS.
Dotty, maybe you could open a thread with some specifics on your problems
and then some may be able to point you in the right direction for troubleshooting.
