Hardware and software probs were easier to separate back then but now
takes special skills to localize specific faults much less isolate them consistently.
It can be a real PITA unfortunately but when the culprit is found, it is a great
satisfaction of accomplishment. Trial and error and swapouts with known working
components are a must in many instances.
I have never been one for throwing up my hands and demanding/doing a clean
install of an OS.
Dotty, maybe you could open a thread with some specifics on your problems
and then some may be able to point you in the right direction for troubleshooting.

thanks Gunner, I've posted in other forums, re installed windows, done test after test, still nothing, I had new ram installed and still have the same problems, it wears you down eventually, some kind souls try to get me to do things that I haven't a clue about nor are they straightforward for me even though I try..
