The above post got in out of order somehow. It was not the last post but possibly the second to last. Anyhow, this thread is now solved thanks to Mikorists help.
I sometimes wonder whether Linux is all that stable and that perhaps on certain machines or installations it may act a bit wierdly sometimes.
At least that is how I feel after some of the strange occurances on my particular installation.
