All very good points here, and like Sam said, if a game needs more spec that you have, you can get a new card or more RAM or whatever, instead of buying a new console, which costs a lot more.
As Taima said, you don't have to worry about specs with consoles, as that's all taken care of by the developers. I find that sometimes they try pushing a console a bit much, though, and you can actually get lag on a console, but that's just down to poor developing IMO.
At the end of the day, PC's are limitlessly upgradable, and consoles are completely restricted until they make a new one.
I also prefer playing driving games on my PS2 because of the joysticks, which are variable input, as opposed to keyboard up/down keys which are on/off controls.
